The David & David Show
David Goodwill and David Burchett both had a great race evening tonight. Goodwill, Napa’s Driving Dentist, took his third win of the year and Burchett posted some personal milestones for the 2010 season.
The racing started with Burchett of Tracy having fast practice time first time out with Goodwill second and Goodwill having fast practice time the second time out and Burchett second. Qualifying had Goodwill’s Napa #3G first fast, but Ed Amador and Rob Hammond were second and third quick. Burchett then turned fourth quick, with Chico’s Don Emory, in his first outing of the season, setting fifth fast time.
The heat race had Emory and Burchett bring the group around to the green, Burchett was like a fox in front of the hounds. Amador nipped at him all through the event, looked like he had him several times in the eight lap go round, but just didn’t quite get him. Meanwhile, Goodwill came from the last row up to Hammond and traded places several times until he finished in third and Hammond was fourth. Emory was fifth.
The Trophy Dash started with Amador and Hammond leading the way. Goodwill and Burchett backing them up. Burchett earned the win in the four short laps. Amador took second fighting for every inch of it. Goodwill came in third and Hammond finished it up in fourth.
The thirty lap main event started with Emory on the pole and Burchett riding shotgun. Hammond was inside second row and Amador outside. Goodwill started fifth. With only a couple laps in Amador’s Toste Farms #76 took the lead and Goodwill came right along with him for second. Hammond and Burchett were third and fourth. Goodwill took the lead on lap five with Amador in second. Things changed in the blink of an eye with one of the cars laying down an oil stripe. Rookie David Dias of Sacramento got caught up in a spin and Amador spun around giving them both a ticket to ride…on the hook. Denny Burrell, in a borrowed sprinter, made another lap around and exited as he was also having some motor issues. Goodwill cruised to his third win of 2010. He and Hammond are now three and three for race wins. Burchett and Hammond fought tooth and nail for second with Burchett coming out on top and Hammond placing third. Kudos to Don Emory and Denny Burrell for first time racing this season. Special note to David Dias who had his first time in any race car let along on a track for the great run he had going. He held his line and took it home in the trailer without too much destruction.

Moon Madness Overshadows Hammond Win
Rob Hammond’s enjoyment of his third win of the 2010 season was overshadowed by the melee that ensued at the completion of the race. Full moon and racing…?
Thomas Leiby set his first fast time this evening and the best thing about it was NCMA Officials and drivers had decided to remove his rookie streamers to start the night. Leiby had to prove himself as a competent driver to have the streamers taken off and he did it up great by setting fast time. David Goodwill was second quick. Jimmy Riddell was third quick and Pat Ariaz, in his first night out this year, set fourth fast time. Ed Amador was fifth.
Two heats were held. Jimmy Riddell grabbed the win in the first heat. He started in the last row and had the lead by the first lap. Leiby was second and fastest time for the eight laps. Rob Hammond took the win for the second heat and was best lap time. Ariaz and Goodwill had a run in leaving Goodwill with all kinds of front end problems and out of the dash which he qualified for.
Riddell and Leiby led E. Amador and Hammond to the green flag for the four quick dash laps. Riddell dominated from start to finish. Leiby was again fastest time in the Trophy Dash.
Bill Logan and Hammond made up the front row of the Main Event, Steve Amador and Pat Ariaz, row two and David Burchett were the top five starters. Ed Amador ran the first quarter of the race and was experiencing a bad vibration and headed off track. Logan was having some carburetion problems and made it close to halfway before heading for the pits. After having problems in his heat race, Ariaz made an early exit in the main. ‘Hot Rob” Hammond had it going on with Riddell, Leiby and Goodwill working behind him. With four laps of the forty lap main to go, Riddell tried to get past Steve Amador on the outside, but didn’t count on Leiby on the outside of him. Riddell went into the wall head first collecting Leiby, who went tail heading to the wall. S. Amador ended up giving Leiby the double whammy, leaving him with no front end at all. NCMA Officials called the race at that point. Lots of banging and bruising, too bad car parts don’t do that. Hammond did end up first with Goodwill in second. Bill Didion took third and Burchett was fourth. Riddell who almost had the win ended up fifth. The full moon really took its place at the front of the pack!
NCMA will be at All American Speedway in Roseville this Saturday night June 5th. Come spend the day with us for some great racing. |

Goodwill Has Win #2
Napa’s David Goodwill cruised to his second win of the 2010 season tonight in NCMA’s first showing at All American Speedway.
After posting fast time in the first practice run on the asphalt, Jimmy Riddell in his Hornet #19 looked as if he had the perfect setup for the evening. Goodwill’s Napa #3G came right back in the second practice and was the fastest. When it actually got down to qualifying, Goodwill was the number one man. Ed Amador in his Toste Dairy #76, has been working out the kinks to get his sprint car to the front, was second quick time. Rookie of the year contender, Thomas Leiby was a fast third qualifier. Riddell was slightly off with a quick fourth and Rob Hammond was fifth.
Tracy’s David Burchett and Rob Hammond of Morgan Hill took the green for the heat. Riddell and Amador came up behind them. Burchett held the lead for the first go round. Riddell blasted his way to the front. He finished first with Goodwill right behind him. Burchett held onto third, with Amador in fourth and Leiby in fifth.
Riddell started the Trophy Dash in the lead and finished in the lead. Goodwill made his way to second and Leiby was third (this kid just gets better with every lap he makes) Amador was struggling and finished fourth.
It looked like the Main event was finished before it started. Amador and Burchett headed up the front row, Riddell and Leiby second row, Goodwill starting fifth. Amador had the first five laps down pat and looked like he was going to make it all 25 laps. Not to be, Goodwill cruised into second about that time and Riddell hooked in right behind him. A couple more laps and Goodwill had the lead. Amador was driving like he “stole “it holding second. Riddell was working third. Leiby moved into fourth. While Riddell continued his quest for the front, Hammond was shuffling with Burchett for fifth. He finally made it with less than ten laps to go. Goodwill finished at least twelve car lengths ahead of Amador. Happy Mothers’ Suzie Goodwill! Amador finished ten lengths ahead of Riddell. Happy Mothers’ Day Patt Amador. Special kudos to Bob Diaz who hadn’t been in a racer in years and took it home on the trailer in one piece.
All in all, a good evening of racing before starting a two week hiatus and then returning to the New Stockton 99 Speedway on Saturday May 29th. See you there!!!!! |

Hammond Takes Second of Three Races
Morgan Hill’s “Hot Rob” Hammond made it two in a row this evening at the New Stockton 99 Speedway. Hammond showed no fear as he took the lead on the first lap and never looked back.
Jimmy Riddell turned the fastest qualifying speed this evening. David Goodwill was not far behind him. Ed Amador’s “Red Flyer” qualified third. Rookie Thomas Leiby was fourth, and Hammond placed fifth.
In the heat race, Tracy’s David Burchett and Hammond brought the pack around for the green flag. Hammond had the lead by the first pass in front of the grandstand. Goodwill came from the outside second row to second place. Riddell came from the back row to third shortly after that. Amador and Riddell played back and forth with Amador finally taking third. Eight laps and that was the lineup. Riddell and Burchett brought in fourth and fifth.
The Trophy Dash had the four fast guys. Amador and Leiby first row and Goodwill and Riddell made up the back row. Goodwill had the lead by the second lap and carried it through to the end. He also turned the fastest time during the dash. Amador made a nice second. Riddell finished third and Leiby was fourth.
The 30 Lap Main Event started with Burchett and Hammond on the front row. Hammond took the lead right form the get go. At the back of the pack, Riddell was making a move as he passed the flag stand, and ended up in the top of turn one, leaving Leiby with no where to go, making Riddell have an even harder hit in the wall. Riddell was out on the hook. Hammond stayed at the head of the train with Goodwill trying to catch him. Looking like he was just a speck off, he just didn’t quite make the pass. Burchett and Amador were cruising along with Copperopolis Rookie, Leiby makin’ it roll. A couple laps down and Leiby had passed Burchett. Hammond was still haulin’ the mail with Goodwill working at him. Leiby got around Amador to have an excellent third place finish in only his second race. Amador finished fourth and Burchett was fifth. It was found upon completion of the race that Amador had an incident and bent an axel and still finished fourth.
Also of note; bad day at rim rock for rookie Justin Kawahata. When he went out in hot laps, he kissed the turn three wall hard enough to put him out before the night started. He was seen all evening hard at work but never got close enough to make the main.
NCMA will be making their first appearance of this season at All American Speedway, Roseville this coming Saturday night, May 8. Treat Mom to some real excitement this Mother’s Day weekend. For further information, please check NCMASprints.com or AllAmericanSpeedway.com. |

“Hot Rob” Hammond Has It Tonight!
With only two races into the 2010 season, Morgan Hill’s Rob Hammond took the checkered flag of the 30 Lap Main Event. Hammond is an up and comer this year and it’s already showing.
Qualifying was pretty exciting when all was said and done. Jim Riddell took the number one spot; once again David Goodwill was .012of a second behind him. Ed Amador was just a little bit behind that. Hammond was fourth and Rookie Justine Kawahata was fifth. Kawahata has never run the Stockton bull ring. David Burchett and Bill Didion also qualified in the 13.000’s.
In his first outing this year, after stopping early in the 2009 season to care for his wife, Jeanette, Gary Koster came out and didn’t miss a beat. He came in first in his heat. Bill Didion had the fastest lap that heat. Also his first time at 99 Speedway. The second heat had Hammond winning. Goodwill was second. Riddell gave Ed Amador a punt, and was sent to the rear with Amador. In the eight laps Amador made it back to third and Riddell fourth.
The Trophy Dash was ready to roll with Ed Amador and Hammond holding down the front row. Goodwill and Riddell coming in behind them. E. Amador grabbed the lead and had the first two laps. By the third lap, Riddell claimed the lead and took it home for the win.
Twelve 360 wingless sprints lined up for the main. Woodland’s Koster and Steve Amador of Patterson had the pole and shotgun. Burchett from Tracy and Morgan Hills’ Hammond had the second row. E. Amador of Modesto completed the five front starters. S. Amador grabbed the lead. In the ensuing hunt for the front Riddell who came from seventh ran over Goodwill’s wheel finishing Goodwill’s night. It also gave Riddell a left front flat which he racing on for eight laps. The fireworks were pretty impressive. A caution flag came out and Riddell took the opportunity to change the tire. Since he was still under the caution, he didn’t miss a lap. Hammond had the lead by the eighth lap. S. Amador just barely behind in second and Riddell made it to third. A couple more laps and Burchett had to leave the track with rear end problems. Riddell made it past E. Amador who was second and headed for Hammond. Fast as Riddell was, Hammond came in first it was a great race to watch. E. Amador was third. Another Rookie, Thomas Leiby of Copperopolis, in his first NCMA outing was fourth. S. Amador rounded out the top five.
A rematch will be held as NCMA Sprints return to The New Stockton 99 Speedway, May 1st. Come join us for the best sprint car racing in the valley.
