Amador Conquers All American Speedway!

The last half of Ed Amador’s racing season is turning into a jet powered run. He struggled for the first half and now his red rocket seems to hit the track at flight speed.

David Goodwill set fast time tonight, but Amador was less than a tenth of a second behind him. Thomas Leiby was third quick. David Burchett and Rob Hammond took fourth and fifth.

Hammond and Burchett were the pole and shotgun for the Heat. Justin Kawahata and Bill Logan started third and fourth. Amador was fifth. With only eight laps, Burchett led the first lap. Hammond gave no quarter as he took over and led half of the heat. Goodwill was coming to the front and out in the front by the fifth lap. Hammond never gave up second. Amador came from fifth to finish in third.

Thomas Leiby made quick work of the Trophy Dash, taking the green first and the checkered first. In fact the same thing happened with Burchett in second. But in four laps Goodwill and Amador switched it a round with Goodwill and then vice-versa. Goodwill finished in third and Amador fourth.

The main event had four different lead changes. Kawahata and Bill Logan brought the pack around with Logan in the lead. A couple more go-rounds and Kawahata grabbed the lead back. Hammond, Amador, and Burchett were working hard to gain the lead with Goodwill at the end of the train. They were all trying to take the lead, Hammond claimed it again and on his journey through it all, Kawahata was made into the filling of an Oreo cookie between Amador and Goodwill. He made an early exit, but his sprinter held on pretty good as he was able to run the USAC race later in the evening. Amador got around Hammond; Goodwill was coming in for a run on the lead taking second. Hammond held onto third for a third of the race. Goodwill just could not catch Amador who was running ten car lengths ahead of him. With three laps to go, Burchett took third from Hammond, but in the end, Hammond finished third behind Amador and Goodwill. On the last lap Logan was bumped and made a perfect three-sixty and ended the race in the right direction with no problems! Kudos to Jeremy Hawes of Marysville, making his first run on
pavement, and finished to also run the USAC race.

Join us this Saturday night, August 28th at Madera Speedwa to see if Amador’s rocket or Goodwill’s Black Beauty can claim the win. Oh and don’t leave out “Hot Rob” Hammond. Should be a great evening of racing. For further details please check out www.ncmasprints.com or www.racemadera.com

Amador Owns Madera

Modesto’s Ed Amador has ruled Madera Speedway for three out of four races held there this season. In fact Amador’s Red Rocket #76 had a great run for this evening especially considering the track started off real slick.

Thomas Leiby one of several young guns running for rookie of the year, set fast time. David Goodwill was not far behind him as he took second quick. And then came Amador in third. Tracy’s David Burchett and Rob Hammond from Morgan Hill, two racers that are looking for sponsorship pulled fourth and fifth quick.

The eight lap heat had Amador and Burchett bringing the pack to the green. Amador grabbed the lead. Goodwill got around Burchett only a couple of laps in, and the challenge was on, Amador being the fox and Goodwill and the rest of the pack on the hunt. It looked like Amador’s Toste Dairy racer had it, but with only several laps to go, Goodwill slipped right past him to claim the win. Amador still claimed a close second. Leiby, from Copperopolis, was third.

Burchett and Amador, pole and outside starter made the first lap of the Trophy Dash with Amador taking the lead and never giving it up. Goodwill had second by the second lap. Leiby shuffled Burchett to finish third, and Burchett was fourth. The race started with a total inversion of the field.

Denny Burrell and Justin Kawahata were first and second for the twenty five-lap Main Event. Hammond and Burchett started third and fourth, with Amador starting fifth. Hammond has led the way to a win several times this season and he had the lead for the first fifth of the race. Amador took over first after working his way up through the sprinters. Hammond held onto second but Leiby came from the back and made it to third. Goodwill was not going to settle for fourth and just past the ten lap point, he passed Leiby for third. Amador was cruising a half lap ahead of Hammond, Goodwill and Leiby. They were definitely putting on the show. With just a few remaining laps, Goodwill got around Hammond for second but never could catch the “Red Rocket”. Hammond finished a respectable third. Leiby’s #U2 was fourth and Kawahata finished fifth.

The NCMA Sprints will return to the asphalt of All American Speedway, Roseville, beginning the final count down to the end of the season. Goodwill and Hammond have both taken home the trophy for this tight little track. Maybe Amador can get in there for the win next Saturday night August 21, 2010. Goodwill Gets His Groove Back

Napa’s dazzling dentist, David Goodwill, took the reins again at The New Stockton 99 Speedway. After struggling through several weeks and a couple of non-race weekends, Goodwill seems to be back in the saddle again.
Thomas Leiby rejoined the group after being off for some weeks having to reconstruct a badly mangled sprinter and it paid off as he set fast time. Goodwill came in second and Ed Amador and his red rocket was third.

The eight lap heat race started with Bill Logan and Denny Burrell taking the green flag. Logan jumped right out there, with Burrell right behind him. Rob Hammond and Goodwill manned the second row with Goodwill picking up second place by the first lap. Burrell was looking good,
hanging in there for third through half of the heat. Logan was being pursued by Goodwill and never gave up the fight. He claimed the heat, Goodwill second, Hammond got around Burrell for third and Amador fourth.

“Hot Rob” Hammond started the dash on the pole and Amador, who was right beside him had the lead it the first round. Goodwill gave him a run for the trophy but never got there. Hammond and Leiby finished third and fourth respectively.

Burrell and Logan came to the green for the Main Event and Burrell was able to take the lead and hold it for the first ten laps of the 35 lap main. Hammond took over second from Logan just a few laps in. Goodwill was pulling third by that time and Amador was fighting over fourth with David Burchett. About halfway, Goodwill had the lead and Amador was right with him in second. Hammond and Burrell were third and fourth, and Leiby sitting in fifth. With the last ten laps to go, Leiby had overheating problems went off the track to get the car cooled down. The race got more exciting as Goodwill and Amador just kept duking it out. Goodwill had the lead, but Amador was definitely giving him something to think about. Hammond kept third with Burrell maintaining fourth and with Leiby having to leave the track, Burchett rounded out the top five.

What a great evening of racing as in every aspect of the competition a different racer took the win. It just doesn’t get any better than that. Join us as we go to the asphalt of Madera Speedway this Saturday night August 14th. For further information please chech out our website at www.ncmasprints.com or www.racemadera.com.

Hammond Picks Up Fourth Win

Morgan Hill’s Rob Hammond achieved his fourth win of the 2010 season this evening at All American Speedway. In 100+ degree heat, Hammond equaled up the roster of wins with David Goodwill with only six races remaining.

Qualifying had Goodwill up front, but surprisingly Hammond was right behind him. David Burchett, who has been one of this track’s contenders, was third, Ed Amador was fourth, running his #6 backup car, and Bill Hendricks was fifth.

Burchett was on the pole for the heat. By the first pass in front of the grandstand, Goodwill had taken his Black Beauty to the lead and maintained it to the end. Burchett scrambled up into second with Hammond giving him a good go. Burchett did end up with the second spot and Hammond was third. Amador was able to hold fourth and Hendricks came in fifth.

Sitting on the pole for the Trophy Dash, Hammond never gave it up, green to checkered flag. Goodwill started in third but scooted into second on the first lap. Burchett held onto third and Amador was fourth.

For the Main Event, Amador’s Toste Dairy #6 came to the start with the Tracy Awards & Embroidery #77B of Burchett. On the short circuit of All American Speedway, Hammond took the first lap and the race was on. Goodwill didn’t waste any time and was right behind him on the second lap. Amador was able to maintain third place for many laps, Burchett was right with him. Watching Hammond’s Hale Lumber #17H and the Matco Tools #3 of Goodwill going round after round was worth the price of admission! Goodwill would almost catch up and then Hammond would jump out of the turn. Hammond just had a handle on it tonight. Crew member Bob Hammond stated “we changed up a few things since the last race”. It must have been the right things because Hammond was the winner with Goodwill in second; Burchett did finally wear down Amador for third. Amador had a tough night and still came in fourth and Hendricks, fifth.

NCMA Sprints will have a two week hiatus until returning to the New Stockton 99 Speedway on August 7th.
An outing is planned at the Westley Hotel, Westley, CA on this Saturday July 24th with a car show and Barbeque. Come out and enjoy some bench racing and great food! Information to be posted on www.ncmasprints.com

Ed Amador Takes Second Win At Madera

Ed Amador has found the sweet spot at Madera Speedway as he has taken the win twice in as many runs there. July is one hot time to spend racing in the middle of the central valley. It was said at 5pm it was 103 degrees. More so sitting in a fire suit, strapped in, waiting to go.

David Goodwill was the “Fast Master” tonight as he set quick time. Jimmy Riddell was not far behind with Amador running third fast. Rob Hammond made it from Morgan Hill to place fourth fast and Justin Kawahata was fifth quick qualifier.

Kawahata and Denny Burrell brought the pack around for the start of the heat race. Hammond and Amador snubbed up behind them. Kawahata had the lead and Amador took it over. Looked like he had it in the bag, but Goodwill was not giving up anything, taking the lead on the white flag lap and the win.

The Trophy Dash had Hammond and Amador on the front and Riddell and Goodwill second row. Amador had the first lap, but Hammond wasn’t giving in that easy as he took it back on the second round. Amador grabbed it back and took it to the win. Goodwill started fourth and finished second. Hammond ended it in third and Riddell finished in fourth.

Burrell and Kawahata started the Main Event with Kawahata taking the first lap, but by the second, Amador made it from the fifth starting position to pass Kawahata and took the lead never giving it up in the next 29 laps. Mean while, back in the pack, Hammond made it to second with Riddell pulling in third and Goodwill hanging in fourth. A few more go rounds and Goodwill was heading for Amador. The fox took his red rocket about a quarter track ahead of the hounds, Goodwill, Hammond, Riddell and new guy, Tim Skoglund, cruising in fifth. Riddell had a problem with a radiator hose, spun out and was out for the night. With a third of the race to go, Hammond slid right into the third spot. Kawahata took fourth over and Skoglund finished his first race in fifth. Kudos also to Rick Novotny who generally is helping Bill Logan fielded the car and also did quite well.

Another hot night of racing will be coming your way as the NCMA Sprints travel to All American Speedway in Roseville. Goodwill has won both races there this season and we’ll see who’s going to take the checkered flag at the end of the night.
